Our Mission

Clifford’s Army Rescue Extravaganza (C.A.R.E.) is dedicated to improving the quality of life for homeless and otherwise struggling companion animals in Cleveland County, North Carolina, and beyond. To accomplish this mission, we rely on a dedicated team of local volunteers, strong community partnerships, and social media to connect with a broad network of supporters and fellow rescue organizations. We firmly believe that while we cannot save every animal in need, that does not mean we cannot try.

Powered entirely by volunteers, C.A.R.E. rescues abused, neglected, abandoned, and at-risk animals from kill shelters, owner surrenders, and situations of abandonment throughout Cleveland County and the surrounding region. At any given time, the organization provides foster care for approximately 120 to 150 animals, partnering with local veterinary clinics, hospitals, trainers, and fellow nonprofit organizations to ensure each animal receives the vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery, medical treatment, and behavioral support needed to thrive, regardless of cost.

Once healthy, socialized, and ready for adoption, C.A.R.E. works tirelessly to place each animal in a safe, loving, permanent home through social media outreach, partnerships with other rescue organizations, and frequent community adoption events.

In addition to rescue and adoption efforts, C.A.R.E. is committed to preventing animal homelessness before it begins. Through partnerships with local donors and veterinary providers, the organization helps pet owners in need by providing food, basic supplies, vaccinations, reduced-cost spay/neuter services, and other essential veterinary care.

C.A.R.E. also invests in community outreach and public education by hosting fundraisers, educational programs, and community events that promote animal welfare, responsible pet ownership, and the importance of spaying and neutering. By educating both youth and adults, C.A.R.E. strives to create lasting change that reduces animal suffering and keeps more pets safely in their homes.

As a registered 501(c)(3), non-profit organization, your donations to C.A.R.E. could be tax deductible.
