Clifford’s Army Rescue Extravaganza was contacted by an individual asking to take their dogs.
Between our rescue partners and CARE, 17 dogs lives were saved (one was pregnant who delivered pups).
Upon arrival, we assessed that three of the dogs were on death’s door. We immediately grabbed them and headed straight to the Vet. In this collage photo, you can see that they are extremely emaciated. One was not moving with the other two having their noses in the fence, moving very little. Then you can see their pictures at the Vet’s office.
C.A.R.E. took in these three. The Vet office worked on getting body temps up as they were non- existent when we arrived with them. Jean, who was the one not moving at all did not make it. We lost her overnight and it broke all our hearts as we were so wanting to let him experience the good life, know love and be cared for as he should have been.
Nick and Hope exhibited swimming paws when picked up. Neither could eat hardly at all, no clue whether to eat a food bowl or the food, same with water.
Nick seemed to not be able to focus. The Vet said his pupils responded to light, yet it took him several minutes to find a small piece of a hotdog and take out of our hands. He actually got part of the hand instead of the hotdog.
This was so very sad, as we soon realized these three were literally starving to death, as they could not eat on their own.
After much vet care, one of our the Army stepped up to take on teaching these babies how to live.
At this point we did not know if the neurological issues were reversible or not.
The above picture is of Nick and Hope at their recent checkup! What an amazing job CARE foster, Lisa Lovelace, has and continues to do.
She started with syringe feeding, supplementing and of course loving.
These two would literally fall over trying to go to the bathroom. Look at them now!!!
This is why we do what we do, and why we beg for funds so we can help even more! While there is so very much heartbreak in rescue, the ones that make it, push us continue.
We know and truly believe that ALL LIVES MATTER.
